Start Posting YouTube Shorts Now. Here’s Why —

YouTube Shorts is the newest feature for YouTube creators, and if you're not using it yet, you're missing out on a huge opportunity. If you want to learn more about how to create YouTube shorts or why you should use them in the first place, keep reading!

You probably already know that YouTube has a new feature called YouTube Shorts. It’s a lot like TikTok, Instagram stories and Snapchat — but it also isn’t any of those platforms. In short: it's an easy way for you to create shorter videos that can be watched on the YouTube app or website.

YouTube shorts be up to 60 seconds per clip and have to be vertical. You can add text or stickers in many different colors and sizes, just like you would in TikTok. These features make it easy for anyone to create content without having to learn editing software or use expensive equipment like cameras and microphones (though we recommend them if you want better results).

The Google-owned video platform announced on Tuesday that users have watched more than 4 billion hours of YouTube Shorts since the feature's debut in September.

Let's just get this out the way: 4 billion hours is a lot of time. You could spend it watching your favorite music videos on repeat for about 14,000 years, or you could use it to watch every single episode of Friends in a span of 21 days.

The 45-second clips have been one of the most successful experiments from Google's recent push into short-form video content, offering creators another avenue to generate more views and subscribers to their channels. If you are a content creator and aren't uploading YouTube Shorts by now, you are way too behind.

YouTube notes in a blog post that 65% of YouTube shorts watch time has happened in the past two months alone.

Why? Because they're so easy to create, and they're perfect for today's mobile-first audience. You can have your message across in a matter of minutes with little effort—and if it's not something complex, there's no reason not to do this!

According to the company, millions of creators are now posting shorts to YouTube, and for good reason. Yes, here is all the good stuff I mentioned about YouTube shorts for emphasis – YouTube Shorts is kind of like TikTok, but it's also not. YouTube Shorts is a video app that allows you to create short videos with music, text and filters. You can preview your finished project before publishing it to your channel or someone else’s. The app is free in the app store or on Google Play and is available globally. The appeal of this format isn't lost on YouTube.

According to the company, millions of creators are now posting shorts to YouTube, and for good reason: they're easy to make and fun for viewers!

If you've ever made a video on Instagram Stories (or any other social platform) then you know how much fun it can be—and how addictive it can get once you start getting creative with ideas for new shorts every day (or week).

Shorts are optimized to play on mobile devices, which make up the vast majority of YouTube traffic.

Here's the thing - we live in an era where attention spans are short and tiny screens dominate our lives. If you've ever wondered why people watch short videos on YouTube instead of long ones (or even if you've ever wondered what humans looked like before computers existed), then it should be clear that there is something inherently valuable about these bite-sized pieces of content. And it's not just because they're easy to digest—it's because they're also extremely shareable! That makes them ideal for younger audiences who use their phones as their primary entertainment device. YouTube Shorts are short, mobile-friendly videos that can be watched on your phone.

It's also a good idea to upload YouTube Shorts if you're looking for an easy way to get more views, since younger audiences typically watch more YouTube than any other age group.

Shorts help increase engagement through features like a built-in speed tool and an option to loop certain parts of your video.

  • Speed tool helps you speed up or slow down your video.
  • The looping option lets you play your video continuously.
  • You can add text or stickers to your video.
  • You can add a soundtrack to your YouTube Short, and even set it as the background music for your entire account if you want! (If you do this, please let me know how it goes.)

There's also an option to upload original music from your computer—which means if I ever want to make a 90s-inspired animated clip about how much I love the internet, I could make a cover of "Closing Time" by Semisonic without having to pay royalties first! If that's not enough, there are filters available too: one that adds frames around everything moving on-screen (like Snapchat), another that makes everything look like it's being seen through a kaleidoscope (a little bit trippy), and one more that makes everyone appear as though they're on drugs (so many options!).

This is something that also sets it apart from TikTok because there aren't a lot of other platforms that use vertical short-form content.

You might think that if you're already a YouTube creator, it makes sense to just upload your videos directly to the YouTube platform. But here's the thing –  TikTok is a short-form video platform, and YouTube is not.

While you can upload vertical videos on YouTube, they will not play in loop mode (which is what makes TikTok so great). There's also something else that sets it apart from TikTok: there aren't a lot of other platforms that use vertical short form content. If you're looking for an easy way to stand out from everyone else on the market, making videos specifically for this new format could give you the competitive edge you need.

Now that you are aware of the Youtube Shorts, why don't you try it asap?
