2 Ways to Improve Social Media Engagement for Your Brand

You could be doing a completely wrong approach to engagement!

Your brand is in trouble.

You're not getting leads on social media.

You could be doing a completely wrong approach to engagement!

It's time for a reality check – you're doing social media wrong. It stings, we know. You've put in hours on end perfecting your social profiles and chasing down the latest trending hashtags. And with all the pictures saved from the beach, product shoots, and that one quirky saying that just makes you lol, it should be a breeze to build your following, right?

Note the excessive amount of self promotion. If your goal is to sell to your market and make them come out from under your posts, this is not the way to do it.

So when you've got a DTC brand, and the only thing you're getting on social media are a few likes here and there. It's not exactly the kind of engagement that will make you feel like your brand is having an impact.

But don't worry! Here are 2 ways on how to improve your social media engagement --

First off, focus on quality over quantity: while it's great to post regularly (and we recommend doing so), don't be afraid to go off-script and offer something different every now and then. Don't just post the same old thing over and over again—you could end up looking boring or unoriginal.

Second, don't be afraid to actively participate in discussions about your page. Responding to comments when appropriate, retweeting recommendations from satisfied customers, and posting interactive content (such as polls and content) are all effective ways to drive engagement.

Social media marketing isn't easy. If it were, everyone would be a social media star! Like most things, you have to put in the time and effort to do it right. Not everyone will be satisfied with you immediately. In fact, if you're like me, the first few months of social media marketing are a lesson in just how finicky it is. But stick with it and don't give up. Once you find what works for you and your brand, social media can be a great way to connect with customers and even show off your customer service skills when people reach out to you personally.
